Take Me Drunk, I'm Home

Here is another layout of my friend's 30th Birthday party...from the page you can probably tell it is also one of the last in the series...lol.

I went a little overboard on the background.  I had fun, but I think it is a bit much.  I tried to tone it down a bit by adding a layer of vellum between the background and the main photo cluster, but it is still pretty heavy.  For the background, I first used a Studio Calico stencil - Here and There Chevrons.  Then I added gesso on top and then I added two colors of watercolor and let it drip down the page.  Then on top of that I added Lindy's Stamp Gang mist in Opal Sea Oats.  Too much?!?!? :).

Here is the overall view of the layout.  I used mostly items from the Worth Wondering - Scraptastick kit from April 2014.  I outlined the entire layout with a brown pen to bring your eye into the page as much as possible.

The vellum chevrons were stamped with versamark ink and head embossed with gold, Stampendous embossing powder.  The stamp set was from a Studio Calico kit.  The set is made by an artist named K. Barteski.

In the top right corner (similar to the page I posted last), I added a cork banner and a "Hey, Foxy!" stamp that I embossed on vellum using the Stampendous gold embossing powder.  They "Hey, Foxy!" is a stamp that was gifted to me by my friend Tiffany.  It comes from the Kelly Purkey - Hey Foxy stamp set.

In the bottom right corner I used a cork ampersand and a butterfly from the kit.

Here is a close up of the texture on the background.

Have a great day.

  1. I love the background. Now do you usually use gesso for your textured backgrounds with stencils? Love to hear the brand that you are using, since I want to give this a try!

    1. I use modeling paste with the stencils and gesso if I am just adding color to the background. My gesso is too thin to use with the stencils. I think you can buy different "bodies"...lightweight, heavy, etc. I use the Liquatex brand that you can get at Michael's.
